Devil Hunter Beginner Guide

The ultimate walkthrough for new players. Learn how to choose between Human and Fiend, complete your first missions, find secret contract locations, and master the combat system.

Updated for 2026 - This guide reflects the latest game mechanics and changes.

1. Human vs. Fiend: Which to Choose?

When you first load into Devil Hunter, your most critical decision is picking your race. This defines your playstyle, weapons, and abilities for the entire slot.

The Human Path

  • ✅ Can form Devil Contracts (e.g., Future, Ghost, Fox)
  • ✅ Access to all Crafted Weapons (Katanas, Axes, Guns)
  • High Base HP but no passive regen
  • Exclusive: Can join Yakuza to become a Hybrid

Best for: Players who want weapon variety and contract abilities

The Fiend Path

  • Passive HP Regeneration (Huge advantage in long fights)
  • ✅ Unique Race Weapons (e.g., Shark Claws) scaling with Fear
  • ❌ Cannot use standard weapons or make Contracts
  • Exclusive: Access to powerful Fiend Talents (e.g., Mold)

Best for: Players who prefer regeneration and Fiend-specific abilities

2. Your First 30 Minutes

Step 1: Public Safety Orientation

Spawn at HQ and talk to the Starter Devil. Your first task is to speak with all Division Captains. Use the elevator to navigate floors.

Floor 4 is crucial for later—it houses Contract termination and debuff rerolling NPCs.

Step 2: Get Your First Weapon

Visit the Armory NPC after the captain tour. You can choose a starter weapon:

  • Dagger - Fast attacks, low damage
  • Heavy Axe - Slow but powerful
  • Katana - Balanced option

Drag it from your inventory (key `) to your primary slot to equip it.

Step 3: Join a Division & Rank Up

We recommend joining Division 5 or Division 2 for the easiest starter quests. Your goal is to collect Stars to rank up.

Complete the "Craft a Weapon" task by using the Craft Station and obtaining 5 Common Devil Flesh (drops from missions).

3. Combat & Progression

The Skill Tree

Press N to open your phone and access the Skill Tree. You can equip a maximum of 6 skills. Skills have stat requirements (e.g., 10 Strength, 15 Speed).

Pro Tip: To level up "Weapon Mastery," you must hit enemies with that specific weapon type. Find a friend or a wall-glitched NPC to farm mastery quickly!

4. Key Locations & Contracts

Skateboard Shop

Location: Exit HQ and turn right

Essential for mobility. Buy a board immediately (Press H to ride).

Yakuza Base

Location: Left of the Skateboard shop

Requires reputation to join. Unlocks Katana Man and Snake Devil.

Fox Devil Shrine

Location: Chinatown

Offer body parts (arms/hearts) for a chance to contract.

Warning: Failure means death and item loss!

Raid Locations

  • Zombie Raid: Warehouse near outskirts
  • Katana Man Raid: Construction site right of HQ

Note: Raids have a 1-hour cooldown.

Ready to Hunt?

Devil Hunter is unforgiving. You will die, you will lose items, but that's part of the grind. Remember to check Dorian Graves for starter tips (costs 20k Yen) and keep an eye on your Contract Debuffs in the stats menu.
